Velix Park in practice

Central access, monitoring and shared parking — how Velix Park works in the field.

Central access and monitoring for bike parking

Challenge

Urban environments need a central way to manage and monitor multiple bike parking facilities efficiently. The challenge was to combine live access control with communication between users and operators, while automatically detecting faults and error messages.

Central access and monitoring

Solution

Velix provides a scalable solution for central bike parking management via a control room. Each parking facility is equipped with a local controller linked to access and an intercom.

Operators follow access status in real time and can:

  • Communicate directly with users via intercom.
  • Grant or deny access remotely.
  • Immediately analyse why access was denied (e.g. no payment or a fault).
  • Automatically log interventions and error messages.

Access rights are managed centrally per location or cluster. All data and actions are securely logged in the platform. New locations can be added easily while keeping the same management structure.

Shared bike parking with off-grid connectivity

Challenge

This solution addresses the need for a flexible, sustainable bike parking system that supports both shared parking and individual bike lockers. The challenge was to combine access management, monitoring and payment across sites with and without grid power, in one user-friendly system.

Solution

Velix built a full ecosystem to manage different types of bike parking — from shared spaces to individual lockers — through one platform. The solution is designed for locations with or without fixed power.

Users manage access via a mobile app or web portal to reserve, pay and open a locker or parking space. QR-code and badge access are also supported.

Smart sensors monitor door status and occupancy. Off-grid sites use solar panels and LoRaWAN communication for full autonomy.

Operators use a central dashboard to:

  • Manage all locations, doors and users.
  • Adjust tariffs and subscription plans.
  • Follow door status and occupancy live.
  • Monitor interventions and energy use.
  • Generate reports on usage and performance.

Thanks to the modular design, locations can be expanded or adapted easily, regardless of parking type or local conditions.
